Music Magazine

Here is my finished magazine. I did an interview with the band and wrote up an article about their story. I am quite proud of this magazine much more than the College one as I have took care and time with it and think it looks rather professional. I like the use of colour, orange on black, as it stands out well whilst fitting with my chosen house style.
Cover - I like how there is an orange section at the side, acting as a background for the cover lines, however this could be improved by fading the edges so it blended into the cover image. I like how the band name is placed on the page as it stands out well.
Contents - I am really proud of how this turned out, I really like the way the contents fades over the picture with the picture relating to the main article in the magazine. I also like how the text is all aligned down the right hand side of the page leaving the rest for pictures. I could improve on the plugs at the bottom of the page and make them a little more professional.
Double page spread - I like the way the pictures have been presented on the page and took this idea from previous double page spreads that I have looked at. I edited ther pictures to give them more of a professional look however some turned out better than others. To improve this I could have added the bands name on the page giving it a title so people know they are looking at the correct thing. I could also have changed the layout of the text as it looks like a lot of text in one small space with big pictures just looming around it.
Overall I really like how the magazine has turned out even though there is room for improvement
The majority of my progress in making the magazine is backed up in my scrapbook

Editing

I have tried to use Adobe Photoshop to edit my pictures from the gig, but the quality of the pictures has effected the quality of the editing, from the pictures I took I could only get 2 or 3 images to look moderately professional
Because I could not get this to work how I wanted I have took a photo of a 'band' and am going to use these photos for my magazine.

Music Photography

I went to a gig last night and took some pictures there in hope to use them as a part of my music magazine, with careful editing I hope to make them a high quality standard suitable for my magazine. Here are a selection of the pictures I may use.

Progress

Recently I have been working on my scrapbook, I have been showing how I went through the process of learning about Magazines and creating different things for them. Soon I will begin working on my Music Magazine.

For my Music magazine I am going to base it around the 'Rock' Genre of music as this is my favourite and means a lot to me. I also feel more confident as I read a lot of 'Rock' style magazines such as Rocksound, Kerrang and NME, therefore I have good knowledge in how they get across to there audience.
After evaluating my previous work I decided that I should use more advanced software to give my Magazine a proffesional look. I have decided that I am going to use Adobe Photoshop CS5 to edit the pictures to enhance them and QuarkXPress to create the actual magazine.
